Grails 0.1 Released

Yes, that time has come, the first 0.1 release of Grails is out and I'm really pleased all or our hard toil has resulted in such a quality release. Grails has come a long way, I'm currently developing my first live project with it and it is a joy to use. There is still much to do though and we have some exciting features planned.

Over the coming weeks I will be posting on this blog about some of the features of Grails that I believe make it unique and not just another Rails clone. So stay tuned, the Grails journey has only just begun. :-)

Congratulations Graeme! This should be the start of great things for Groovy! (& Grails!)

Congratulations. I'm sure a lot of people are passively and actively tracking this project.

Many managers are comfortable with Java. It should be easy to introduce this technology into existing environments.

Yes that is the clear advantage of Grails' competitors, it can cleanly interface with existing Java services and even existing Java domain models that are developed in Hibernate.

Grails also allows mapping onto many Legacy systems (all those supported by Hibernate) which again is where Java is tended to be used. Plus of course you have the mass of Java developers out there with their existing API knowledge.

Congratulations! Yeah I'm one of those who followed here from theserverside.com discussion. Is there a way for the developers on this project to do a article on developerWorks perhaps and kickstart the revolution. Heard enough of Rails already. Lets nuke it.
